Turnout for Bob
An On30 #6 code 70 turnout.
For Bob. If you were Bob, you’d be getting this turnout.

I wish I were Bob… This looks more realistic than reality itself. You are very good!
Tim,
Nice looking turnouts. Would you be willing to share some of your scenic and ballasting techniques. Do you put down a base of paint and plaster then the gravel and what are the little tufts of grass that you use.
Nice work, Thanks, John Walter
Hi,
Shortly, I will be producing a document on finishing trackwork with lots of detail on the techniques I use. In short though, I simply glue the turnout to the base, paint it all one colour and let it dry. Then I paint a few ties with varying shades of a similar colour. Next the track is ballasted and glued and left to dry.
Once dry, I apply a wash of leather dye and rubbing alcohol down the middle of the tracks and add a darker stain around the points and frog. Once dry I paint the rails with Floquil Rust applied with a small brush or a paint pen.
The little tufts of grass are from Scenic Express. They have a fantastic collection of stuff like this, and a cool website.
I can be Bob if you want me to? :-O
LOL!!!
