I swear, if they leave the equiptment here tonight they will no longer beep!

Anyone who has had some work done around their property with heavy equipment will know what I am talking about. That non-stop friggin’ beeping is driving me nuts!
I can’t image what it would be like to work with this for years. I image you stop noticing it after a few days, which raises the question, why all the beeping? Must have been pretty quiet on job sites before some safety committee decided more irritating noises were needed….
Its been kind of a quiet week as they were waiting for the mud to dry up a bit before bringing in all the trucks to backfill around the foundation. They tried bringing in a load of concrete, with interesting results…
Sunk in pretty good. Drove right out though…
It soon became clear that the driveway here was simply gravel on top of topsoil and would not be able to support the amount of trucks that would be needed to bring in the backfill.
We decided to have the entire driveway replaced. Excavated down 18″ and packed in with “pit run”. This began yesterday afternoon, and was most entertaining to watch…
Don’t worry Scott, it isn’t as close to your van as it appears, besides, this excavator operator is amazing, he could pick apples with that thing.
All dug out and waiting for fill.
Of course we “might as well” redo the sidewalk to the house while we are at it. He is scraping out the topsoil under the watchful eye of the general contractor. He is a man who knows how to handle a shovel, and I mean that in the most respectful way, he really knows how to shovel, not something many can do efficiently.

Oh boy, more yellow things. I wonder if it beeps…
