{"id":2590,"date":"2009-02-24T10:12:36","date_gmt":"2009-02-24T15:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/?p=2590"},"modified":"2009-02-24T10:19:48","modified_gmt":"2009-02-24T15:19:48","slug":"reefers-are-addictive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/?p=2590","title":{"rendered":"Reefer&#8217;s are Addictive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Now this is a Billboard Reefer!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/empirefuelbillboardcargryx1018ro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2591\" title=\"Billboard Reefer\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/empirefuelbillboardcargryx1018ro-500x147.jpg\" alt=\"Billboard Reefer\" width=\"500\" height=\"147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/empirefuelbillboardcargryx1018ro-500x147.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/empirefuelbillboardcargryx1018ro-150x44.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/empirefuelbillboardcargryx1018ro.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After building and weathering a couple of reefers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bronx-terminal.com\/?p=2496\">last week<\/a> I have found myself very fascinated with billboard reefers.\u00a0 Before the mid-1930&#8217;s there were lots of these colourful billboard reefers rolling around.\u00a0 Due to a law passed banning railcar advertising like this, they were all painted over.<\/p>\n<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/keokukandwesternrr.com\/models.htm\">ran across<\/a> this picture the other day of what has to be one of the best examples of a billboard reefer.\u00a0 I would have loved to have seen this in colour!<\/p>\n<p>I guess this is what would pass for graffiti in the 1920&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE<\/strong> &#8211; This isn&#8217;t a billboard reefer.\u00a0 It has been modified to transport coal, two hatches on the roof have been added to load the car from above.\u00a0 Dustless coal apparently as either they have just painted this car, or their coal really was dustless.\u00a0 My money is on the repaint&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>-T.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now this is a Billboard Reefer!
