Ballasting TFM

Portable crossovers

Shortly after starting on the LaSalette module I inherited another small module that originally belonged to Trevor Marshall. Trevor’s Former Module (TFM) is a small portable crossover section that does not represent any particular location. I offered to take it on after Trevor realized he would not be able to contribute to the project due to other obligations. (wussy). (focused)

Tonight I spread and glued the ballast in place on the trackwork. We are meeting again this weekend for a trial run and I am hoping to have it ready to go by then.

Amost done!

As far as I can go for now….

Spent the afternoon working on the station and have got it as far as I can go. The roof needs to be covered with tarpaper and the evestroughs need to be added. Usually I make tar paper with masking tape strips painted black, but I thought this time I would give some of those printed materials a try. I ordered a few different types online last week and will have to wait until they arrive before I can complete the station.

I slopped on some dark stain onto the roof, but that just made a mess. Should have left it wood for now.

A bit o’ progress

Some trim painted.

Did a bit of work on the station tonight. Painted the contrasting trim to match the prototype of the LaSalette station with a darker green. I am not 100% happy with the base color I mixed up for the station, but it is fairly close to what I think was used on the station.

The CASO station in Waterford, Ontario has been restored and I believe the colors used there are close to the original colors so I used that to get the colors close.

I need to glaze the windows with some clear styrene, but it is way out in the shop, and I didn’t feel like walking through the snow, so I called it quits for the night.
