Lighting the steamer

We had a family gathering on the weekend and the time felt right to light a fire in the long cold firebox of my grandfathers steamer.

A black and white image seems appropriate here as any image I have ever seen of my grandfather with one of these boilers was in black and white…

My brother Scott took this shot at the NMRA Train Show last month. They dropped by the show to have a look around and I gave him the camera. Lots of interesting shots came back, this one I thought was pretty cool.
