In a rare moment of cleanliness, I decided to document the fact that the work area on my desktop is actually visible.

I have a phone!

  1. Yes a phone, and a nice antique rotary dial at that. Just remember, it probably has a magnetic bell ringer inside, which can cause lots of problems for electronic items place next to it, like floppy disk and flash drives. I have seen floppies wiped clean from the magnetic field generated when the bell rings.

Love the old and new together.

  2. I hunted for quite a while for that phone. Hard to believe that only a decade or so ago there were millions of these phones everywhere! Where did they all go?

I managed to find this one on eBay for $12.00. Believe it or not it works great, just plugged into our phone system here. Although voice mail systems don’t seem to like rotary dials….

    No issues with magnets yet.

Scares the hell out of me when it rings.

  3. Hey we have this in common. I have two of those left over from way back when. Both are beige in color and still going strong after hitting the floor several times. They were given to me 30 years ago by a then brother-in-law who worked as a tech for Bell. I still run pulse line thru the house.
