Hard Rock Balancing Act

Queen St. West

A street performer in downtown Toronto last Sunday. Vita and I decided to spend the day wandering around Toronto, something we don’t do enough as we only live about an hour away. Queen St. West host lots to see among its many unique shops and very unique people.

This guy had quite a display of carefully balanced stones which most believed were fastened together. He would frequently knock them down to prove they weren’t mechanically joined in any way. It was quite fascinating to watch him work.

Prototype Double Slipover

Union Station, Toronto

This scene will be familiar to anyone who has walked from Front St. to the CN Tower in Toronto. Below the walkway is the throat to Union Station and it is filled with double slip switches. Here is a great example of a prototype “Double Slipover“, a crossover with slip switches instead of turnouts.
