First Box Complete

First Section

With the collapsible benchwork complete I started in on the sections that will sit on it. The first section is complete, but I have not fastened the top down onto it yet, I want to wait until all the boxes are complete to ensure everything will line up properly.

The sides of the benchwork and the boxes are all ripped from 3/4″ cabinet grade plywood, cut to 5 1/2″ high. I chose an extra high side so all the undertable items will fit completely within the box, such as switch machines and wiring. Plus it is plenty rigid, I don’t want this to twist on me. I’m not concerned about weight as the sections will require two people to move them anyway due to their awkward size, so if it weighs 10 pounds or 60 pounds it won’t make a difference.

The boxes will be clipped to the benchwork using several “suitcase” clips at strategic locations. Alignment clips will be made from 1/4″ aluminum and fastened on the bottom of the layout to ensure everything stays in a horizontal plane on the top. I’m still working on the design of those.

With a long weekend approaching I am hoping to get the other two boxes complete and start on the alignment clips.

Its alive….

Fresh from the dungeon.

The main benchwork for the Terminal is complete, and standing on its own four legs. I took these pictures yesterday, tonight I finished part of the first section of the upper pieces, which I will post some pictures of as soon as it looks like something.

I thought I should check to confirm that it would actually fit in the van. I removed the seats, which requires a Herculean effort as they each weigh 600 pounds.

Surprisingly, it actually fit, with a full .0575″ to spare…

Now that I have confirmed it will fit into the van I can move onto the next sections.

Photo Galleries being added

Easier method of viewing images

Over the next few weeks I will be adding galleries to the site. These galleries will make viewing images posted to the site much easier. I have had feedback from viewers stating that it can be difficult to see the images that have been posted onto the site(s) over the years, so to alleviate that galleries have been created with all the images posted to the Bronx Terminal and Port Kelsey Railway site (the two sites I have had)

These galleries will contain only the images, not the narrative of the posts. To see the posts with descriptions you will have to navigate the categories on the right hand side of the pages.

The link to the galleries is on the right hand side of the page, called “Photo Galleries”

The galleries here will contain images from both the Port Kelsey Railway blog and the Bronx Terminal blog.
