Tobermory, Ont.

Big Tub Harbour Lighthouse.

We spent the weekend up in Tobermory, Ont. (it was our 16th anniversary) . We have never spent any amount of time here, but have wanted to for several years. This is a small “dive town” on the tip of the Bruce Peninsula in Georgian Bay a haven for scuba divers as there are many shipwrecks in shallow water all around this area.

I snapped a few shots of the are and will post them here over the next couple days.

This is the lighthouse that guards the entrance to Big Tub harbour, one of several around the area, and the most accessible.

Another great vintage RR shot found on Shorpy’s Blog. I recommend a browse of their site, lots of old photo’s of exceptional quality.  Looks like whoever installed the grab irons didn’t have one of those nifty drilling jigs….

Stringing wire

My nephew Hair, I mean Chris

Most of the wire strung in the building (and there is a lot of it) was pulled by Chris over the last couple of weekends. Here he is taking a moment to admire the drill.
