Z scale Narrow Gauge

Zn3, really small.

260607s.jpg

A set of HO scale wheels straddling a Z scale narrow gauge #6 code 40 turnout. The track gauge here is a mere 3/16″ (.187 4.75mm)  .177″ (4.5mm)

This is the smallest fixture we produce at Fast Tracks and I have always wanted to build one of the turnouts. The entire thing will fit on my thumb…

Abandoned History

The AirLine, Delhi, Ontario

220607s.jpg

Yes, there are railroad tracks buried in there. This scene is hard for me to grasp as this was the busy rail line that ran past the house where I grew up. Over these tracks huge 80-100 car trains rumbled past at 70 mph, every couple of hours, 24 hours a day. Now, this is what remains after 10 years of abandonment.

Part of the line is still active, with a train every couple days delivering a car to a fertilizer plant at the east end of town, but beyond that this is what is left of the line.  A hundred feet ahead the rails end in a pile of gravel.
