Passing Ayr

New Trackage

092408.jpg

When I drive into Kitchener from Burford I pass Ayr.  Over the last few months there has been some construction at the Trussler Road crossing, looks like they are putting in some long sidings.  Its always good to see tracks going in instead of coming out.

Anyone know more detail about this project?  I suspect it has something to do with the Toyota plants in Cambridge and now in Woodstock.

Here is a satellite image of the location, the image does not show the new construction. For some reason the Ayr area is in uber-high resolution. The individual ties are clearly visible.

Out of curiosity I copied the image into my CAD software and measured the turnout on the siding. Its a #12.

  1. Good Day Tim,

I hope that all is well! This new yard is suppose to have 8-12 tracks. It will be used to prepare the auto-racks (I think the tri levels) for both the Cambridge and Woodstock Toyota plants.

    Nice Pic!

    Cheers,

    Colin
